The proliferation of societal advancement has been the harbinger of prodigious changes that have augmented the previously established normality. The United Nations and much of the civilized world holds high regard to the treatment and maintenance of equality amongst sexes, keeping constant assurance that no slight is given towards either sex and that fair treatment is unanimous. Historically, women have endured the mistreatment of society and are often subject to continuously deemed wanting of what men are freely granted. In the past, the assurance that education be provided to girls and women has been neglected and in recent history, the allowance of education to those of the female sex a relatively new concept in the Middle East.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, since the incipience of its first day on the first of April, 1979, has undergone significant adaptions to permit women and girls to obtain the invaluable commodity that is education. Iran is capable of boasting 1.22 : 1.00 female to male ratio in enrolled students. In addition to this, women in universities account for more than have of the students attending universities across the nation.
While it is true that a number of universities proposed a ban to prevent women from pursuing certain degrees, as a whole, the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken a stance against the aforementioned proposal. The primarily basis of the proposal was not strictly to inhibit the education of women but rather solely to prevent women pursuing degrees in which there is not a female work force. The goal of the universities’ proposal was to prevent educated women from being forced to endure unemployment, such lines of work that are unsuitable for women include mining and agricultural machinery. In spite of the proposal, however, the government has adopted a stance of non-acquiescence to the proposal of 2012.
One intangible commodity of paramount importance and incomparable value is the omnipotent enlightenment that comes from education. Education is pivotal for societal advancement and providing myriad opportunities for the youth to gain education is prudent. Adopting sexual restrictions in favor of one sex over the other in concerning the field of education is an archaic ideal and the Islamic Republic of Iran promotes the education of girls. The Islamic Republic of Iran supports the maintenance girl’s education and will support those holding the same opinion.
