The issue of the rights of a stateless person can be the cause of many different issues, and with the various pathways to becoming a stateless person, there comes a various amount of perspectives all around the globe on how the problem should be handled. Perhaps one may be a victim to territory disputes or war, whereas a person could simply display the kind of behaviour to be seriously prejudicial to the vital interests of the state. More even if such person were to commit an act of terrorism. All of these are valid reasons for a person to be made a stateless person. However none of those are valid reasons for one’s natural human rights to be taken away. Even if a person may be considered to be stateless, they are still fully entitled to all of their natural human rights. Among those rights is the right to nationality, meaning that if a state strips them of their nationality they do have the to become another nationality as well as have their basic human rights protected.

With the migrant crisis as prevalent as ever France, as well as many other countries are struggling with laws and stateless people, victims of war are flooding in through the border. As this continues to occur, the issue of how to deal with stateless people is only becoming more and more constant. France has been able to put laws in place that help the nation to maximize the rights or stateless people as well as reducing the number of stateless people in France.

Though in France, people, of a state of stateless are always guaranteed basic human rights, that is not always the case. At the “1961 UNHCR Convention of Reduction of Statelessness” there was a document that got passed and signed by 40 various countries around the world. This document gives in great detail an outline of the rights of stateless people and how the countries who put on their signature should go about handling stateless people. France was not of of those original 40. However, in 1962 France signed onto the document with certain liberties. There are many other nations who have done the same thing as France in regards to signing of the document. The nation of France truly does believe that the best way to reduce statelessness and protect their rights globally is by getting many more signatures of other countries to join in the universal fight against statelessness.
