South Africa believes that ethnic and sectarian conflicts should be solved at once within a country. If a country has sectarian conflict it should seek the help it needs from other avalaible countries. The United Nations should also assist in sending aid, and holding peacekeeping talks between the two groups involved. South Africa has limited resources but, just as we did with Zimbabwe, we can assist in mediating talks between the two groups involved.
South Africa lacks the power or the money to finance such projects but it will give its full support in these situations, generally speaking of course. We feel that in helping other countries out, we improve ourselves in this world, because we need as many friends as we can get. Our major trading partners right now are not very diverse, and in improving our diplomatic stand to other countries, we hope to gain trust as well.
We feel that in many circumstances, such as the problems within the Congo and Sudan, we can be of some assistance. If anything we will do our best to back up the ideas presented by the United Nations, and perhaps send aid and other resources. Speaking in South African's best interest I must add that our country cannot supply as much as others due to domestic problems, but will do its best. Our trade is doing well with countries such as the United Kingdom yet we, just like every other country, have had to make changes to face the new global economic problems.
