The government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire is concerned with how the environment is depleting all over the world. Our country struggles itself with major deforestation and waste pollutants in our water. We are concerned with the UN operations so that they can try and conserve more than they currently do. We believe a better effort in recycling could promote use of less paper. As signatories or both Tropical Timber 83’ and 94’ we are trying to save our own forests as well as the globes’.
Our country has struggled with war to protect our environment but with the current political system we may begin to get more accomplished. Our country currently has projects going to try and clean our water so less people will become sick our die from the pollutants. We are also trying to make a more sustainable sewage system. This is a major priority so the citizen’s safety is upheld as well as the environment. We are signatories of the hazardous wastes and marine dumping treaties but we need to step up our enforcement to make these treaties effective.
We are a signatory of 14 multilateral environmental agreements to help protect our globe. We would like to see the UN help these causes and make further effort to help our precious planet. It is the responsibility of the UN to protect our world’s assets from the water to the wild life.
