The Republic of Korea is supportive of the idea of helping countries rebuild and recover in a time of need after a natural disaster. The Republic of Korea Has faced natural disasters like the mud slides that Korea has encountered earlier this year. Korea believes the UN should help prepare those countries who are affected by natural disasters like Haiti, Japan and Chile who have faced severe earthquakes and Thailand and the United States who were both affected by a tsunami and a hurricane.
Korea believe that other nations should not only help with money or supplies. Those nations should send people into the affected countries to help rebuild and maybe help prevent the same disaster from taking place again or lessen the damage cause by it. Like for those in Haiti after the severe earthquake, many sent help in the means of medicine, supplies, doctors and many volunteers that helped build basic structures and a place for the people to clean themselves to prevent the spread of disease and illness. This is an example of how Korea believes the UN should help those who face natural disasters.
Korea is also willing to send money and aid to those affected by natural disaster like the 1.2 million dollars donated to Haiti. It is also understood that no one is against aid but Korea's concern is how much others are willing to give and help. Korea is supportive of the idea of aiding others and is willing to work with those who are in need of help.
