Although the nation of Sierra Leone recognizes accidental death as an unfortunate, yet realistic product of humanitarian aide in conflict zones, we have no tolerance for violence targeted towards aide workers.
Sierra Leone believes that a ride in violence towards humanitarian aide workers could be attributes to the rise of ethnocentricity, or negative judgment based on ones ethnicity, race, religion, or language. Civilians in many war-torn countries struggle with their emotions, and act out in humanitarian aide workers because they are an easy target.
As an African Nation, Sierra Leone see’s the threat of violence towards humanitarian aide in many of our neighboring countries.
Because Sierra Leone has recently undergone c civil war, we understand just how helpful humanitarian aide can be to one country but we know that as the risk of violence rises, the number of volunteers will drop significantly. The government of Sierra Leone is extremely thankful for the help it received during its time of need, and we believe that we owe humanitarian aide workers the right to be safe and neutral in conflict zones. Sierra Leone frowns upon rebel groups that use violence against these workers and believe that any government who supports rebel causes that act in violence towards humanitarian aide workers should be punished accordingly.
Overall, Sierra Leone clearly values the importance of humanitarian aide workers and believes that the entire globe will suffer if the UN can not find a safe and successful resolution in a timely manner.
