There have been issues involving national sovereignty for many years about how the United Nations should handle the issue of improving political conflicts. This is a bad problem because the United Nations does not have the right to go in to countries and solve the conflicts by themselves. Also that many countries are unable to handle the conflicts on their own, in which case, these countries do need help. This issue is recognized as a problem by Barbados, but we think that the next problem involving the statehood of Palestine is a much more prevalent and important issue.
As the great Barbados our country would have some trouble solving our own problems because of our size, but because of our perfect interactions with our people and other countries, we do not have any conflicts. Therefore it would be nice to have the idea that we have the backup of the United Nations and would pass a resolution that allows the United Nations to come in to our country and help us out a little if a conflict ever arises.
In the committee, we will look to either write, or help write a resolution that allows the General Assembly to vote on whether other countries believe that the conflict in question is one that the United Nations should become involved in or whether the United Nations should let the country involved solve the conflict without the help of the United Nations. We would like to see a 2/3 majority needed in order for the United Nations to go help with the conflict.
