As tension and battle rages between the nations of Israel and Palestine, there have been many talks of peace and the statehood of Palestine. Currently, Palestine is not recognized as a country and holds no vote in United Nations proceedings. The partition first set in motion in 1947, divided the country equally. Although the equal division met opposition, today, the level of equality has greatly fallen victim upon the Arabs. However, Israel met little welcome in their move to the United Nations’ promised land. The great tension between the two countries has resulted in animosity creating bloodshed from both sides.
Jordan recognizes the validity of both countries. Jordan thanks Israel for its generous foreign aid. However, Jordan reaches a sympathetic hand to its Muslim brethren in Palestine. Both sides have added to the disagreement; however, both countries have expressed a want to end the fighting and move closer to a time of peace. This makes the time of agreement critical.
Moving forward, Jordan would like to see a fair agreement made between the two nations that better reflects the divisions outlined in the original partition. After years of residence by both nations, it can be concluded that both consider the area their home. This makes it nearly impossible to give the country to a single nation. An agreement must be made despite resentment and cultural clashes. Amnesty on certain issues must be given.
Jordan has shown in the past, our desire to be a helping hand in these agreements and extend our hands once more in hopes that a lasting agreement may be made.
