The Kingdom of Lesotho believes that the issue of Palestine Statehood needs to be resolved. This issue can be traced back to roots in the late 19th century and starting in the 1940’s it escalated and became violent. It has gone on far too long; it is time for the United Nations to resolve this conflict.
Restoration of peace throughout the world should be a priority for the United Nations. Israel and Palestine have been large contributors to global conflict for decades. This conflict has been allowed to escalate far beyond control. Both Israel and Palestine want to end this conflict as peacefully as possible but both have different outcomes in mind. Resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should be top priority of the United Nations.
The Kingdom of Lesotho is in favor of Palestine being recognized as a state by the United Nations. Lesotho has faced struggles similar to what Palestine is confronting with Israel. There is a parallel that can be seen between Lesotho and Palestine. Palestine’s struggle with Israel has been mostly been of a religious nature but the question of their statehood has to do with territorial issues. Lesotho has faced territorial issues involving South Africa. The South African government has many times tried to lay claim to the land that makes up the country of Lesotho, therefore imposing on their statehood. Much like Palestine the Kingdom of Lesotho has struggled to be recognized as a state. In support of a country that struggles with similar issues Lesotho is in favor of Palestinian Statehood.
