As a victim of radical attacks, Switzerland stands against terrorism with countries like America, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. We have all experienced the attacks, the accusations of harboring radicals, and we all want to declare war on terrorism. However, since terrorist groups reside in some ally countries, that does not mean that our alliances shall be shattered, as it is only an attack on terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, Peykar, and Green Cells. This only means we will prevent such groups from acquiring WMB (weapons of mass destruction)through means of an agreement between us, the United Nations.
As a member and delegate of Switzerland, I propose that we create an agreement outlining the following. We all must pledge to battle terrorism, to watch over any weapon sales, and to always keep an eye on anyone suspicious. However, this does not mean we should be spying on our citizens directly, nor should it be encouraged. What we should do is watch over sales on weapons, pay attention to detail of possible threats we may have overlooked, and generally minimize the amount of weapons sold. We are people of peace and neutrality, so it's only natural such a suggestion is made. However, if there is no agreement, one of us may be able to sacrifice, as it should be an opportunity cost for unhappy citizens rather than endangered citizens.
Thank you.
