The central African republic believes that dealing with civil and political unrest is a difficult issue that needs to be dealt with on a case by case basis. The central African Republic does not support intervention that is not in support of the civilian population. The Central African Republic also believes that the people who have lost their homes and livelihoods should be put first.
Unfortunately the central African republic has a lot of history with political and social unrest. When the central African republic gained independence from France in 1960 it has been in a state of on and of political and social unrest. The central African republic also is currently in a state of social unrest with rebels in the capital. Foreign intervention can be a good tool for restoring stability to a country. With this said foreign intervention comes at great cost to the sovereignty of a nation and should be an absolute last resort after all other options have failed. The first priority of any international is to intervention should be to stop human rights violations and extremist groups. After a state of lasting peace and calm the foreign powers should leave as soon as possible. Foreign intervention is a powerful tool that must be internationally overseen and managed.
The Central African Republic is a strong believer and supporter of United Nations peacekeeping efforts. The Central African republic believes that the best thing that the United Nations can after both sides have reached a ceasefire is broker peace talks between the existing government and the rebels. This is the only way process that both sides will reach a long lasting and permanent solution to the conflict.
