Throughout history, there have been numerous wars and conflicts pertaining to religion and ideology alike. From the first crusades to the events that have been occurring in the middle east for the past two decades, sectarian conflict has played a major role in the formation of human history, and has resulted in the deaths of millions. Nearly every country on the planet has had to face some form of sectarian conflict at some point or another, and no man is without some form of belief, from Christianity to Islam to Hinduism to Atheism. These conflicts have persisted since the very dawn of time, and are likely to continue to occur until its end. Therefore, any steps made to prevent the chaos and catastrophe that ensues are noble ones. One particularly alarming case of sectarianism in the modern day world, as previously mentioned, is the situation with ISIS, the terrorist “organization” occurring in the Middle east, where non Muslims are persecuted, tortured, immolated, and decapitated due to their faiths and beliefs. The UN has been urgently pressing for the complete and total annihilation of these barbarians, but has failed to actually make any successful attempts at doing so.
Switzerland, however, has little interest in this matter, due to the fact that Sectarian conflict in other nations is not pertinent to their belief system, which opts for neutrality in all foreign manners. Therefore, they choose not to deal with such terrorist organizations as ISIS until they feel personally threatened by them. Switzerland has had some encounters with sectarian conflict in the past, but such instances occurred several years ago. Therefore, Switzerland has no opinion on the matter of sectarian conflict.
