Net neutrality is a recent issue which has arisen in part due to the widespread use of the Internet. Net neutrality is referring to a neutral Internet in which service providers would not be able to place certain restrictions on some sites while giving advantages to others in the form of faster loading times and related things. Some service providers as well as commonly used sites are trying to “privatize” the Internet. However, many smaller websites have argued against this as they believe it would dampen what the Internet has become. These smaller organizations and websites believe that the Internet should be an even playing field for all businesses and websites on the Internet. They argue that the main reason why the Internet should be kept neutral is that it allows for competition as well as keeping the Internet is a place for people to express their ideas.
In the resent past Italy has done some work to prevent the privatization of the Internet including a recent bill which proposed to not allow service providers to allow some sites faster loading and other sites not so much. However, this bill would also allow people to this such as allowing service providers to dedicate more messaging on an individual basis with the customers. This would allowing individuals to be in control of their site speeds if they so choose.
As far as police Italy would look favorably upon resolution in which companies would not be able to privatize the Internet as to allow an even playing ground to encourage the growth of business, putting protection of small scale sites as this would allow an even playing gowned. Italy would expect support from Slovenia as well as the Netherlands along with other European nations who would not like to see the privatization of the Internet.
