The world in the 21st century has become a frightening place to live in because of the use of high tech weapons. From missiles, to tanks, to fighter jets, they have caused harm, death and worry in not only lives of Libyans but everyone. Currently in the world such weapons like Multi-warhead missiles were barred under a 1993 arms reduction treaty between Russia and the U.S. that Russia later annulled. With this type of trade being the third-oldest human profession, we believe that change needs to come about. Statistics show that most countries are now exposed to this weaponry so creating treaties and controlling these weapons is high priority. The Libyan Government needs to address this topic because currently we are being affected by this system of trade. We support the use of these weapons, but only if controls could be created to ensure they do not fall into the wrong hands. And currently millions of innocent civilians are perishing because these missile defense systems, M1A1 Abraham Tanks, and many more weapon systems are getting into the hands of the wrong people. Exposing this technology to the lower class and highly violent terrorist groups will and already has caused destruction and harm to us, which is why we will require the UN’s help in solving this highly-spread issue.
When we look to this issue, Libya realizes it is affecting us directly. As these killing machines are placed in the hands of terrorist’s organizations like ISIS, destruction and harm towards our government surely have been on an increase. Most international forces are finding ways to battle ISIL on Libyan soil. Mr. Mohammed al-Dairi, foreign minister, claims that lifting the current embargo of high tech weapons on the Libyan Government will aid the “government build its army and deal with "rampant terrorism". The Libyan government supports these weapons, but needs control and form a system to make sure these weapons are not obtainable to people with inadequate intentions. Libya is also willing to support any treaties which abide by these ideas that control who obtains these weapons. From a foreign standpoint Mr. Dairi said Libya “needed a "decisive stance" from the international community to be able to tackle the threat”. Currently we are in allegiance with other countries from the organization the Arab League. These countries have agreed to help us by safeguarding our independence and sovereignty along with attempting to help protect our government from different radical groups who are using these weapons for evil which is what is stated by the Arab Charter of Human Rights document.
The Libyan Government proposes the UN to lift embargoes and restrictions towards Libya, helping us fight off terrorist organizations so we can finally have one unified government like the US. “The situation in Libya is extremely bad,” and the “international community would not be spared” if Islamic State isn’t eradicated from the country. The eradication would be possible if the UN lifts these embargoes. Again, we ask for these weapons to only defend our homeland, but only if control and treaties are formed so that these weapons don't play into the hands of terrorist organizations and other radicalists against us.
