Most countries have a close tie to sports, they see sports as an escape, an opportunity, especially those in impoverished countries. When a country decides to host a national sporting event such as the World Cup or the Olympics, money naturally comes into the state. This money is provided by tourists or more abundantly, sponsorship. Then this money is usually reinvested to improve the country's infrastructure or their educational system. However sometimes improving the latter two subjects will lead to mass overspending, Brazil overspent by approximately 51% of their budget preparing to host the two largest sporting events that occur every four years in a span of two years. This led to mass rioting and looting in Brazil as many were upset not to see the money go to improving the privatized.
Peru's economy isn't the greatest in the world but it’s better than most. A current American dollar is worth $3.5 in Peruvian sols. The county’s unemployment rate is at a respectable 4.2%. There are signs that the economy is currently improving. The biggest one being that 30% of Peru’s population lives under the poverty line, this still is a very large number but is significantly better than the 60% that the country had less than a decade ago. There are also new trade deals helping Peru augment their economy, their are now a member of the Pacific Alliance and signed a Peru – US free trade agreement in 2007. Peru is considered to have the 3rd best economy in Southern America.
Peru is a rapidly growing country, the economy is getting better and better and their amount living in poverty has decreased significantly. Peru is also a very patriotic country, when their men’s national soccer team gets together for a match the entire country comes to a halt and tunes into their television to support their heroes. This brings in revenue for the country as many attend the league games providing jobs for those who need them and money for the government.
