We the people of Mauritania believe that Russia violated the rights of the Georgian people. The so called P5 nation of Russia has over stepped their bounds by invading Georgia, a country which should be granted its sovereignty. Russia has ignored their United Nations responsibilities and as well as their agreement to grant Georgia to be an independent country. We believe that Russia has gone too far by invading and something must be done. We can not allow this kind of tyranny out of Russia.
As a small country in the northwest region of Africa, we are relatively far from this crisis but still have input. Although we appreciate Russia pulling out in August of 2008, we still believe that further measures should be taken. By allowing the United Nations and other large military powers to intervene, we could prevent a crisis like this from happening again. As the Mauritanian nation however we can do little to nothing to help due to our lack of funds as well as military. We as Mauritania believe that actions should be swiftly taken to compress the likeliness of Russia repeating themselves.
Being the small economic nation that we are, we agree that something must be done however, should the need for action to be taken; we will be unable to help. As much as we would like to help our nation is unable. Please allow something to be done about the Russia-Georgia conflict soon so that no other invasion or conflict may take place.
