The United Kingdom is very aware of the war between Israel and the Palestine. They have been fighting for many years and the violence has only increased. Thousands of lives have been taken and Israel and Palestine are both at fault for these actions. To obtain peace in the Middle-East, Israel and Palestine must eliminate the fighting. The biggest obstacle these two countries face is this: Israelis support the creation of the Palestinian state, but the existence of a Jewish State is not supported by the Palestinians. I don’t have faith that these countries will ever settle this dispute. This is a religious war, and until the day where everyone shares the same religious views there will always be huge conflicts.
The United Kingdom believes that the issues of permanent status, including that of territory, are for negotiation between the parties. It is not for the United Kingdom to prescribe the form of any Palestinian state. The United Kingdom believes that the Palestine’s statehood undermines peace efforts because it is a unilateral step into deciding an action that can be resolved through negotiations. The United Kingdom also rejects these Israeli measures to change the status of Jerusalem. We are simply not looking to change the status of a country where we are neither allies nor enemies.
The United Nations is a powerful entity and is active in every government our world possesses. The United Kingdom believes that this feud can be solved by negotiation by Israel and Palestine. I trust the UN will make the best and most logical decision. The United Kingdom hopes that the disputes are settled between the governments who wish to engage in deciding another government’s status.
