It is impossible to prevent natural disasters. They can happen anywhere and will cause damage no matter what. There are many different types of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, and more. Natural disasters destroy homes, and tear families apart. Denmark believes the UN should provide response teams after natural disasters, if the nation is in need. Rebuilding is also essential after natural disasters. Due to recent events in countries such as the Philippines, Denmark believes that the topic of natural disasters is an important one and needs to be discussed.
Denmark has had natural disasters in the past, mainly flooding. Floods affect many parts of the world, and can be particularly damaging. Since Denmark has experienced floods before, our techniques for flood prevention is advanced, and could be used as an example. Denmark is concerned for nations who experience frequent natural disasters, and Denmark is willing to help them out. Denmark does not wish to see any more suffering due to natural disasters, it is up to the UN to alleviate the agony caused by natural disasters.
Having response teams available to countries after a disaster is essential. Nations will need to salvage, rebuild, and in some cases need things like first aid, food, and water. Depending on the severity of the natural disaster, and the nation in question, different levels of aid should be available. However, the UN should not impede on any nations national sovereignty.
