Afghanistan – Peaceful Development of Nuclear Energy and Control of Fissile Material (GLIMUN 2010)
Topic: Peaceful Development of Nuclear Energy and Control of Fissile Material
Country: Afghanistan
Delegate Name: Alex Mullen
School: Williamston High School
Afghanistan strongly believes in devolpment in nuclear energy and fissile materials. The first reason that we believe in this is that we would like a new stable alternative to natural gas that we have now. Also this new nuclear energy would be a step forward for our proud country of Afghanistan. With the production of fissionable material in Afghanistan our country can take much needed steps into the future that would finally put our country out of the stone age. Also steeping forward into the nuclear field would put Afghanistan into the forefront of technology and provide valuable and much needed.
Afghanistan feels that it would be unfair for some countries to posses the power to make fissile material and to make cost affective nuclear energy. Its is a outrage that other countries hoard the secrets of making nuclear energy and don't let other countries have this. This invades on our countries national sovereignty with other nations forcing us to do what they want or else. This is so ridiculous that only certain countries can hold the power of nuclear capabilities and Afghanistan would like this powerful capability.
Some countries think that other nations would make Nuclear weapons with the nuclear material. These are Hannis accusations to make against other nations. Under the law of the united nations, countries are not allowed to create nuclear weapons for war fair.
